Graduate Programs

Our graduate courses satisfy educational requirements of professional registration and membership.

As a graduate student, the course you choose may lead to an accreditation, an exemption or membership with leading institutions and industry bodies. You should ensure that the units you take are those required for the profession of your choice.

You are advised to contact professional bodies directly regarding membership and entrance requirements.

Double degrees

Some double degrees may be eligible for membership of more than one professional body, including some that aren't listed below.

Credits

If you are granted credits, you are advised that each professional body reserves the right to reject an application for membership if the credit is not in accordance with its guidelines.

Accounting

Students undertaking studies in Accounting at a graduate level may be eligible for various levels of membership or entry to the following professional bodies:

Prior to 2014

  • Master of Business (Accounting)
  • Master of Business (Accounting) and Master of Business Law

From 2015

  • Master of Professional Accounting
  • Master of Accounting

Actuarial studies

Students undertaking graduate qualifications in Actuarial studies may be eligible for exemption from the relevant subjects of the Part I and Part II requirements of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.

Exemption requirements

Exemption for each CT subject will be based on sufficient grades in one or more Monash units, as listed below. You must take all units relevant to a CT subject. For Part I exemptions, where only one unit is listed you must achieve a distinction grade in that unit. Where two or more units are listed you must achieve an overall weighted average distinction grade, with a minimum of a credit in each unit. Part II exemptions require an overall weighted average high distinction grade.

Where two units are required for exemption in any CT subject, final marks in those units will be weighted to assess the overall result. Current weighting percentages are shown in the table below:

Students seeking exemption from Actuaries Institute subjects should complete the exemption recognition form and submit it together with a copy of their official academic transcript to the Director of Actuarial Studies, Associate Professor Colin O'Hare.

Banking and finance

Membership of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA)

Students undertaking any course offered by the Monash Business School may be eligible for membership of FINSIA. Students should contact FINSIA directly for more information.

CFA Program of the CFA Institute

Students undertaking any course offered by the Monash Business School may be eligible for entry to the CFA Program. Students should contact CFA Institute directly for more information.

Eligible courses include:

From 2015

  • Master of Banking and Finance

Human resource management

Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) 

Students undertaking any course offered by the Monash Business School may be eligible for entry to the AHRI. Students should contact AHRI directly for more information.

Eligible courses include:

  • Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management
  • Master of Human Resource Management

Management

Member status with the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) 

Current students and graduates who have undertaken studies in management may apply for Member, Associate Fellow, Fellow or Student membership with the AIM

Eligible courses include:

Taxation

Marketing

Australian Marketing Institute (AMI)

Associate membership of the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) may be available to Monash Business School graduates at the special graduate rate.  Students graduating with a marketing specialisation may be eligible for entry to the CPM. Students should contact AMI directly for more information.
