The academic excellence of accounting students was recently celebrated at the annual awards night.
L-R: Professor Axel Schulz, Darren Scammell, Professor Carla Wilkin, Professor Robert Brooks, Mr Peter Day (Chair of the Accounting advisory committee)
Head of the Department of Accounting Professor Axel Schulz wished the students and graduates success on their journey ahead.
"Congratulations to students and graduates on their excellent achievement," Professor Schulz said.
"The success of our accounting students is a great source of pride for the Department, for the Monash Business School and the University.
"We hope this is just the beginning of an exciting and rewarding career for all our students."
Aim for a profession, not just a job
Keynote speaker for the evening was alumnus Darren Scammell (BEc 1986), the Financial Services Audit Partner at KPMG.
Mr Scammell implored the students to aim higher than just a job, and to achieve purpose in their lives.
He continued by saying he was proud to be an accountant and hoped the students saw the importance of this stage in their lives, not only towards entering the workforce but also into a rewarding career and life.
Family, friends and supporters important in success
Professor Schulz said recognition of the achievements of the students and graduates was also seen in the generous support from the Department's industry and professional body sponsors.
"Our sponsors, and the students' family and friends should also be thanked for their support," he said.
