Our research is guided by a simple but powerful principle: to advance the discipline of marketing through innovative methodologies that improve our understanding of marketing and its wider social implications.
Our academic staff use a range of dynamic research methodologies and approaches to investigate a wide variety of topics within the field of marketing.
We have world-class expertise in both quantitative research methods (choice modelling, marketing models, multivariate methods and survey analysis) and qualitative research methods (content analysis, interpretative methods and visual analysis).
Research reputation and culture
In the most recent Excellence in Research for Australia assessment (ERA 2015), Monash University's rating for research in marketing was 5, "well above world-standard." Over the past three years Monash Marketing has had more than 100 research papers published in top ranking journals (A* & A).
Our research culture is vibrant and supportive and we regularly host and participate in a range of research seminars, workshops and conferences. Monash staff and PhD candidates participate and present at major international marketing conferences and we encourage them to actively pursue grants to further their research. Over the past three years the department has successfully secured several million dollars' worth of research grants.
We also have a strong commitment to research collaborations with academics from other departments and centres within Monash Business School, as well as researchers from other faculties and institutions.
