Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability

Welcome to the Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability.

The Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability at Monash Business School produces high-quality research on business, economic and social problems in the developing world, with a particular focus on environment and sustainability.

We seek to further our understanding of these complex problems and how they can be mitigated. We conduct rigorous academic research, which is policy-relevant. To achieve this, we regularly engage with government departments, development agencies, and development NGOs.

China's one-child policy

China's one-child policy (OCP) is one of the most radical approaches to limiting population growth. Professor Lisa Cameron and Professor Lata Gangadharan conducted a research project into its psychological effects.
