7th Conference on Financial Markets and Corporate Governance

PhD Symposium - 30 March, 2016

On behalf of Monash University and our partner institutions, we welcome you to the 7th Financial Markets and Corporate Governance Conference to be held on Thursday 31 March and Friday 1 April 2016.

We are delighted to host the 2016 conference and are looking forward to working with you over the next several months to help you get the most from your participation in the conference.

The broad themes of the conference include:

  • Corporate Finance
  • Financial Accounting
  • Financial Institutions and Markets
  • Asset Pricing
  • Fund Management

The Organising Committee invites academics and research students to submit papers for presentation at the 7th Financial Markets and Corporate Governance Conference to be held on 31 March and 1 April 2016. The conference will be held at Intercontinental Melbourne The Rialto (in the heart of the Melbourne CBD). 

The deadline for paper submissions is 22 January 2016.

Special issue of Pacific-Basin Finance Journal

Papers presented at the conference may be submitted for consideration for the conference special issue of the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal. The special issue of the journal will be edited by Professor Balasingham Balachandan (La Trobe University) and Associate Professor Barry Williams (Monash University). 

Previous special issues of the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal associated with this conference has resulted in 21 papers being published from the 2014 conference and it is expected that at least 15 papers from the 2016 conference will be published.

PhD Symposium

The conference will be preceded by a PhD Symposium on Wednesday 30 March 2016. The symposium will provide PhD students with opportunities to receive high-quality feedback about their academic work. Further information may be found on the PhD symposium page.

Conference Awards

There will be eight awards of $1,000 for the best paper in the areas covered by the conference including an award for the best paper presented at the PhD Symposium.

SIRCA will sponsor a $1,000 prize for the best paper which has used SIRCA Data (this includes ASX intraday tick data and regulatory disclosures, and Thomson Reuters intraday tick data and news). Please note, the use of SIRCA data must be acknowledged in the paper.
